Tip of the Week

December 1, 2014

Amaryllis are a great way to add winter color to your home.  They are very fragrant and have large, dramatic blooms.  However, not all amaryllis bulbs are created equal.  Cheap bulbs can be picked up at many big box stores, but they often do not bloom.  More expensive bulbs are older and better cared for while they are growing.  To achieve the most out of your amaryllis, you want to start with a quality bulb and fertilize it through its growing season.  We suggest Jack's Classic Houseplant Special or Blossom Booster.  Remember, amaryllis like to have plenty of sun, which can be hard in the winter, so pay attention to where it is in your house.
